Abstract:
The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of guidance and orientation
module from the perspective of secondary school 9th grade students. “Effectiveness
of the Guidance and Orientation Module Questionnaire” was used as a
data gathering instrument. Altogether, 7353 students at grade 10 were involved in
the study. The results suggest “guidance and orientation module” offers limited
help to the students in realizing their own potential and getting familiar with their
academic fields. Besides the results suggest significant differences between students
on the basis of gender, school type and the branch of the teachers who
taught the module. In general, taking into account the some difficulties faced
during the implementation process; in the long run, it is possible to say that the
Strengthening Vocational Education and Training (SVET) project and the guidance
and orientation module will have positive effect on strengthening the
Vocational Education System in Turkey.
